- Professor of Clinical Pharmacology; Human Performance, Exercise and Metabolism Group Leader, Flinders University
As Professor of Clinical Pharmacology, I lead a dynamic research team advancing extracellular vesicle (EV) isolation and analysis platforms for use with human biospecimens. My team is internationally recognised for the isolation and characterisation of tissue-specific EVs from blood, and we work closely with industry partners and clinicians to translate this technology into improved patient outcomes through greater drug efficacy and reduced harm.
My research also extends to exercise physiology, sports nutrition and performance, including studies examining the effects of nutritional and supplement strategies such as sodium bicarbonate and caffeine on cycling performance. This work brings together clinical pharmacology, biomarker science and applied exercise research to better understand individual responses to training and performance interventions.
Outside work, cycling is a major passion and a natural extension of my research interests.
