Andrea Hagan is a criminologist, public scholar, and the founder of Pattern Hunters, LLC — a public scholarship platform built at the intersection of community, academy, and accountability. She holds an MA in Criminology and Justice from Loyola University New Orleans and two EdM degrees from Columbia University Teachers College, and brings 13 years of classroom experience — including nine years in Newark Public Schools and four years at an International Baccalaureate school in Baton Rouge — to her research and writing.

She currently teaches courses on gangs, criminal networks, juvenile delinquency, and deviant behavior at Loyola University New Orleans. Her research examines how historical patterns shape contemporary criminal justice outcomes, with particular attention to Black youth navigating the overlapping pressures of education and justice systems. Her public scholarship has appeared in the Louisiana Illuminator, The Lens, and The Conversation.
