- Associate Professor, School of Kinesiology, University of British Columbia
Andrea Bundon is faculty member in the School of Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia and an Associate Editor of the Sociology of Sport Journal. Her research is grounded in the sociology of sport and draws on critical theories including feminist and critical disability theories. Bundon has a particularly interest in the experiences of disabled people in sports and much of her research has focused on the Paralympic Movement and the experiences of Paralympic athletes within ableist sports systems. Her recent publications have explored topics pertaining to gender equity in the Paralympic Movement, portrayals of athlete mothers in legacy sports media and social media, and elite athletes experiences of wellbeing. Additionally, Bundon has explored how sport researchers - particularly those working within qualitative paradigms and methodologies - are engaging with digital technologies in their research practices and these practices can lead to new insights into the experiences of athletes and exercisers. She is currently working with Dr. Victoria Goodyear (University of Birmingham, UK) to edit the Routledge Handbook on Digital Technologies in Sport, Exercise and Physical Activity forthcoming in 2025.
