Dr Andra Ivănescu is a Senior Lecturer in game studies and ludomusicology at Brunel University London. Her main areas of research are sound and music in games and socio-cultural perspectives on games, particularly issues of representation and identity. Her previous work has focused on relationships between nostalgia, socio-cultural issues, politics and uses of popular music in games, the gendered voices of digital assistants in games and the real world, digital hair, and popular music and marketing in digital games. She has published work in the fields of ludomusicology and game studies in journals including The Soundtrack and The Computer Games Journal as well as a number of edited collections, most recently Cambridge Companion for Video Game Music (2021). She is the author of Popular Music in the Nostalgia Video Game: The Way It Never Sounded (2019).
