Anang Widhi Nirwansyah

(He)

As a Senior Marine Spatial Researcher at WRI Indonesia, I specialize in bridging advanced geospatial science with community-led resilience. I currently lead technical operations for the Ocean Calculator program in NTB and Riau, a KONEKSI-funded initiative supervised by UNSW Australia that integrates complex spatial data with GEDSI narratives. With a Dr.rer.nat. from the University of Cologne and over 15 years of experience, my expertise spans hydrodynamic modeling, disaster risk assessment, and Participatory GIS (PGIS).

Beyond technical analysis, I am dedicated to empowering indigenous communities and the next generation of researchers. From facilitating community mapping in Papua New Guinea to training the Orang Rimba in Jambi, I focus on harmonizing traditional knowledge with scientific theory to address climate change. My work as an educator at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto and my extensive publication record reflect a career-long commitment to making spatial literacy a cornerstone of global disaster management.
