I am Professor of European Politics at the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies, University of Bristol. My primary research interest lies in European foreign and security policy, with a particular focus on EU conflict prevention and peacebuilding and its role in conflict resolution in the Balkans. I am also known for my work on EU diplomatic negotiations, including processes of socialisation, norm contestation and the impact of populism on European foreign policy. I hold a PhD in Politics, International Relations and European Studies from Loughborough University and have been a visiting fellow at The Amsterdam Centre for Contemporary European Studies (ACCESS Europe), the Université Catholique de Louvain, and the Croatian Institute of International Relations (IMO), among others. I am widely published on European foreign, security and defence policies and the author of EU Foreign and Security Policy in Bosnia: The Politics of Coherence and Effectiveness (Manchester University Press, 2013) and co-editor of EU Conflict Prevention and Crisis Management (with E. Gross, Routledge, 2011). I have published articles in high-ranking journals such as International Affairs, Journal of European Public Policy and Journal of Common Market Studies. I am currently Editor of the Journal of European Integration.
