Ana Bugnot is an ecologist researching how coastal and marine natural environments are impacted by human pressures including climate change and urbanisation. She uses that understanding to design natural solutions to ameliorate those impacts. Her research directly informs nature positive initiatives including oyster reef, saltmarsh and seagrass restoration, natural remediation strategies and eco-engineering of coastal and marine infrastructure. Her research covers a range of scales, including the quantification of human pressures at global scales, national frameworks for nature positive planning and development and decadal changes in estuary condition.
