Amelia Elias Noor

It is my honor to serve the U.S. Muslim Community to promote awareness of suicide through my lived experience and prevent suicide by partnering with organizations to conduct community engaged research. My training in social and behavioral sciences plays a critical role in assessing and redressing public health inequities such as life expectancy and quality of life while my lived experience offers perspective on ableism, racism, Islamophobia, xenophobia and queerphobia. Previously I received awards from the American Public Health Association (APHA), Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR), the American Association of University Women (AAUW), and the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIH). In 2025 my research was awarded the Equity and Justice Award by the Research Society for Firearm Related Harms. Some past media features include outlets such as PBS, CBS, Newsweek, and Teen Vogue. You can find original scientific health communication content on my social media: @muslim.suicide.researcher. I find my purpose and meaning through everyday micro-interactions with people of all backgrounds.
