Amara Atif

Dr Amara Atif is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia. A teacher at heart, a Learning Sciences researcher by training, and a Responsible AI advocate by passion, her work focuses on designing intelligent learning ecosystems through Human-Centred AI, Learning Analytics, and Educational Innovation. She is the recipient of multiple teaching and learning awards in recognition of her contributions to higher education.

Her research explores educational technology, learning analytics, and artificial intelligence in education, with a particular emphasis on designing data-informed interventions that enhance student engagement, equity, and meaningful learning outcomes. Working at the intersection of research and practice, she translates learning analytics and AI into scalable, evidence-informed approaches that support learners, educators, and institutions. She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including studio-based subjects, and is recognised for creating authentic, student-centred learning experiences that prepare graduates for an AI-enabled future.

Amara's interdisciplinary research spans Learning Sciences, Human-Centred AI, Educational Innovation, Digital Equity, and Responsible AI in Higher Education. Her work has been published in leading peer-reviewed SJR Q1 journals and presented at prestigious conferences endorsed by ACPHIS and CORE. She serves as a peer reviewer for leading international journals and conferences, contributes to technical program committees, and has guest-edited special issues, demonstrating her commitment to advancing scholarship and research quality.

Beyond teaching and research, Amara provides leadership across the higher education sector through cross-institutional collaborations, nationally funded learning and teaching projects, communities of practice, invited workshops and presentations, editorial activities, and sector-wide initiatives that advance pedagogical innovation, responsible AI, and the future of higher education.
