I am a legal scholar, and former commercial lawyer, specialising in small business rescue, insolvency, secured transactions, and the regulatory frameworks that shape business viability. My work sits at the intersection of doctrinal analysis, empirical research, and industry practice with a focus on ensuring that legal frameworks genuinely support the sustainability and resilience of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

My PhD examined whether Australia’s Pt 5.3B small business restructuring regime provides SMEs with a more cost-effective, streamlined, and accessible alternative to voluntary administration. The study was awarded with no revisions and nominated for two Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Awards, and it continues to influence national policy and professional practice. My research has been cited in government inquiries including the Queensland Productivity Commission Interim and Final Reports.

My current research and teaching agenda explores: Small business rescue and simplified liquidation, including comparative studies (US Subchapter V, UK CVAs, India's IBC), empirical analyses of practitioner experiences with restructuring frameworks, real and personal property law including the operation of the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth) and banking and finance law, secured lending, enforcement and receivership.

I maintain strong industry connections and collaborate with practitioners, regulators, and national bodies in insolvency and construction. My work has been published in leading journals and presented at major academic and industry forums including INSOL International ERA (Barcelona), ASIC, ARITA, AIIP, the Banking & Financial Services Law Association, and the Insolvency Academic Network.

Alongside my research, I am a Lecturer at QUT, where I teach across a range of commercial law domains - Real Property Law, Commercial & Personal Property Law, Consumer Law in a Digital Age and Banking & Finance Law. I have a sustained record of teaching excellence, including multiple School, Faculty and Vice-Chancellor Awards.

My early career in private practice and in-house roles involved more than a decade in secured finance, property, restructuring and insolvency - experience that continues to enrich my teaching and research.

My goal is to contribute to research that is practically grounded, internationally informed, and focused on real-world outcomes for micro and SMEs, practitioners, policymakers, and the communities they serve.
