Alon Shepon is a food system expert and an environmental scientist with research interests in food, ecology, and sustainability. He is a faculty member at Tel Aviv University at the department of Environmental Studies at the Porter school of the Environment and Earth Sciences. His research focuses on understanding the interplay between food and environment and the implications of changes in agricultural production, dietary patterns and policy on the sustainability of food systems. Alon has an elaborate track record in the interdisciplinary field of food systems, which spans over 10 years of research and activism, and includes publications in high-profile journals as well as international collaborations in the USA (Harvard), Sweden (Beijer) and more. He is the co-founder and chair of the Israeli Forum for Sustainable Nutrition, a non-governmental organization that disseminates evidence-based and unbiased information towards promoting a sustainable food system in Israel.
