- Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, MacEwan University
I'm a sociologist teaching and researching in the areas of health, food, theory, and intersectional equity. My work has appeared in Social Theory and Health; Food, Culture & Society; Canadian Food Studies; and the Canadian Journal for the Scholarship of teaching, and elsewhere. My book, Food Facts in Post-Truth Culture (Routledge, 2021), argues that there is no single, fixed “truth” about what counts as healthy eating. Instead, food knowledge is constantly changing, shaped by culture, politics, history, and competing scientific claims. My current work explore the role of Alternative Food Networks (AFNs) in developing more equitable food systems.
