Is a Teaching Fellow at Royal Holloway and part-time Lecturer at University College Dublin, as well as the 2014 Ron Lister Visiting Fellow at the University of Otago. Previously, was an Associate Lecturer at Goldsmiths College and a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Iceland and Beijing Foreign Studies University. Her work focuses on development, commodities and consumption with an area specialism in China. Gained PhD in 2011 from Goldsmiths Centre for Cultural Studies; MA in Anthropology and Cultural Politics, also from Goldsmiths; BA in Media Studies from Sussex University. Monograph 'On the Commodity Trail' will be published by Bloomsbury Academic in February 2015. Worked as a radio and TV presenter for many years and is currently developing a TV documentary.
