Alicia Martin

(She/Her/Elle)

Informed by her research focused on food literacies and her work as a Policy Analyst in the federal government, Alicia's research examines food literacy through a food systems lens. She studies food systems, food security, and food literacy, promoting sustainability through an interdisciplinary lens. Alicia is interested in how a broadly conceptualized food literacy can be more holistically incorporated into education and school food programming and how food literacies can be a tool to empower citizens and policymakers to build more resilient, sustainable and equitable food systems. She has a PhD in Geography from the University of Guelph and a Master of Arts in Political Science with a Specialization in Environmental Sustainability from the University of Ottawa. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Dalhousie University working with the Common Ground Canada Network.
