Alicia L. Bruzos

I’m Alicia L. Bruzos (born 29 March 1993), a Spanish biologist, bioinformatician, and explorer specialized in cancer genomics and marine contagious metastases. As one of the few researchers focused on marine contagious cancers, I’ve worked in public academic institutions from six countries, obtained funding for research, and published in renowned scientific peer-reviewed journals (>1800 citations). I combine my passion for science with travel and exploration. I’m deeply committed to breaking barriers for women in science, promoting ecological living, and raising awareness about the importance of science in society. PUBLICATIONS
Over the ten years since the start of my scientific career (2016–present), I have authored 10 peer-reviewed JCR Q1 publications (8 of which are D1, international SCI journals: 1 Nature, 1 Nature Cancer as first author, 1 Nature Genetics, 1 Nature Communications, 1 Elife as first author, 2 JID, one as first author), and 10 book chapters with ISBN (6 of which as first author). Notably, I am first author on 4 publications, the corresponding author on one, and 5 are not co-authored by my thesis director, reflecting my capacity for autonomous research.
