Dr Alice Butler-Warke is a Lecturer in Sociology in the School of Applied Social Studies. She completed a PhD in Human Geography at the University of Leeds on the formation of territorial stigma in relation to Toxteth, Liverpool, in the British press over the 20th century. More broadly, she is interested in stigma and marginality, lived urban experience, and discourse, marginality and power. She has recently completed work on decolonising heritage and building stone.
