Ali Reza Yunespour

Ali Reza Yunespour is an academic in the School of Social and Political Sciences at Melbourne University. His PhD thesis explored how market economy impacted admission (in)equities in Afghanistan's higher education. His current research interests are education politics in fragile contexts and refugee education in Australia. He has extensive community development experience in conflict societies and has helped around 11,000 students in 60 rural schools in Afghanistan through his volunteer works with Indigo Foundation Australia. He is Board Member of Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia (CRSA) that advocates for role of community in supporting refugees and asylum seekers. In August 2021, he was appointed as a Member of the Advisory Panel on the Resettlement of Afghan National advising Minister of Immigration and Citizenship. Previously, Ali Reza was an assistant to the Ambassador for Women and Girls in DFAT, worked as a lecturer at American University of Afghanistan in Kabul, and taught Australian citizenship at Auburn Diversity Services Inc. (ADSi). He was a People of Australia Ambassador with Australian Multicultural Council in 2012-2013 during which he advocated for social cohesion and community harmony in Australia.
