- Postdoctoral Researcher in Cognitive Ergonomics, University of Southern California
Alexis Souchet is a postdoctoral researcher - Fulbright invited scholar at the Institute for Creative Technologies in the University of Southern California since late 2022. From 2020 to 2022, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Heudiasyc lab in France's National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). He owns a Ph.D. from Paris 8 University in Visual fatigue impacts on learning via serious game in virtual reality. He completed his Ph.D. while working at Manzalab from 2017 to 2020, a company creating serious games and immersive experiences. He owns a MA in Digital creation and publishing from Paris 8 University and a BS in Computer Science – Digital workflows from Sorbonne University. His work evaluates the risks and benefits of virtual reality (VR) through cognitive ergonomics. The main focus is VR side effects, understanding and measuring them with physiological sensors. But also how VR can be used for well-being, training, and work. With the climate change and biodiversity crises, he joined ongoing efforts to evaluate immersive technologies' environmental impacts and raise awareness of those issues.
