- Lecturer in Animal Ecology, University of the Sunshine Coast
Alexis teaches and conducts research in Animal Ecology at UniSC's Sippy Downs and Moreton Bay campuses.
Although Alexis works with both terrestrial and marine species, she is a marine megafauna expert focused on the behaviour, ecology, genetics, and conservation of marine species, such as dolphins, whales, dugongs, and sharks.
Alexis' research interests, though vast, encompass two major avenues of study:
1) The behavioral ecology and evolution of sociality in marine mammals; and
2) The impact of climate change and anthropogenic activities (such as urbanization, habitat degradation, and pollutants) on marine megafauna.
Alexis' field-based research programs use a multidisciplinary and broad-scale approach to investigate these themes to contribute to a greater understanding of the evolution and conservation of various species.
