- Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Purdue University
Alexandria Volkening is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Purdue University. Before joining Purdue, she was an NSF-Simons Fellow at Northwestern University for two years and a postdoctoral fellow at the Mathematical Biosciences Institute at Ohio State University for two years. She received her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics (2017) at Brown University with Bjorn Sandstede and her B.S. in Mathematics (2011) at UMBC.
When she's not studying how patterns form on fish, she develops mathematical models to explain self-organization in a range of different applications in biology and social science, spanning pedestrian crowd movement to voter dynamics in election years.
