Have worked on human rights and literary and cultural studies for 15 yrs, including a recent monograph and three edited collections on the broad topic. These titles are Vulnerability and Security in Human Rights Literature and Visual Culture (2015), Theoretical Perspectives in Human Rights Literature (with Goldberg, 2012), Teaching Human Rights in Literary and Cultural Studies (with Goldberg, 2015), and the Routledge Companion to Literature and Human Rights (with McClennen, 2015). My individual research focuses on human rights violations, and especially torture and enforced disappearance, during the ongoing war on terror. Another co-edited collection, Witnessing Torture (with Swanson), will be published in 2018.
