Alexandra Ludewig

Professor Alexandra Ludewig, Head of the School of Humanities at The University of Western Australia, is a scholar of German, European and Translation Studies.

Her teaching and research focus on issues of identity and ‘Heimat’ and she has published extensively in both German and English on these topics. In 2023 she co-authored the Routledge volume The Lives and Legacy of a Carceral Island: A Biographical History of Wadjemup/Rottnest Island together with Ann Curthoys and Shino Konishi, which has since won the Margaret Medcalf Award and a WA History Council Award (Best Local History).
