Alexander Nigel William Taylor

I’m a lecturer in biopsychology at Aberystwyth University, where I teach and research how the brain and body work together to shape how we think, feel, and age. I have a PhD in Psychology from the University of Reading, a Master’s in Neuroscience from the University of Manchester, and a degree in Human Biology and Psychology from Staffordshire University. I also hold a teaching qualification from Aberystwyth University and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

My work combines research, clinical insight, and teaching in areas such as mental health, memory, emotions, ageing, and brain function. I’ve worked with brain scans, body-based measures like heart rate and immune markers, and explored how these connect to our mental and emotional wellbeing. My main research focus is on understanding how emotions and physical health interact as we get older—both in healthy ageing and in conditions like Alzheimer’s disease.
