Alexander Castleton

I am a sociologist and philosopher specializing in sociological theory, the sociology and philosophy of technology and culture, and qualitative research methods. I hold a PhD and an MA in Sociology from Carleton University (Canada), where I currently serve as an Adjunct Research Professor, as well as a PhD in Philosophy from the inter-university doctoral program jointly offered by six Spanish universities (University of Alicante, University of Almería, University of Castilla-La Mancha, University of La Laguna, University of Murcia, and University of Zaragoza). I am also a member of Uruguay’s National System of Researchers (ANII).
My academic trajectory includes faculty appointments at MacEwan University (Canada) and as Adjunct Professor at the University of Montana (USA). I have received distinctions such as the Fulbright-Canada Doctoral Scholarship, the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Scholarship from Canada’s Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and research support from the Northern Science Training Program of the Canadian Polar Commission. My postdoctoral work has been funded by Spain’s Fundación Carolina and Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
