Alex Pigot

My research seeks to understand the mechanisms underpinning the major patterns observed in biodiversity at large spatial, temporal and taxonomic scales, such as why different places on the surface of the Earth hold different number of species, and how biodiversity responds now, and in the future, to global environmental change. Our research combines computational modelling with field experiments to understand the limits to the adaptive capacity and resilience of ecosystems.
