My interests lie in understanding the evolutionary-ecological factors driving warfare and other forms of competition between human groups, together with their impact on the evolution of cooperation, the development of complex societies, and human health. ​To tackle these questions, I develop novel theory and apply existing modelling frameworks in evolutionary biology and anthropology and beyond.
