Alasdair Dempsey

Alasdair Dempsey is an Associate Professor in Biomechanics and Sport Science within the School of Allied Health at Murdoch University. He received his BSc (Hons) from the University of Western Australia and completed his PhD in anterior cruciate ligament injury prevention. Prior to taking up his position at Murdoch Alasdair has worked as a researcher at The University of Western Australia and Griffith University.

Alasdair’s research focuses on understanding the neuromuscular biomechanics behind sports injury and musculoskeletal disease. He also works to develop exercise based interventions for the prevention of sporting injuries, specifically ACL injuries. This work is conducted with research groups from leading universities across Australia. Alasdair’s work on sports injury has been published in the top ranked Sports Science journals. It has received awards from both The University of Western Australia and national and local conferences, including the Young Investigator Award at the 2006 Australian Association for Exercise and Sports Science Conference.
