Akierah Binns is a former public relations and communications officer. Her background spans several areas of management and communication including journalism, humanities, national security, and tourism. She holds Masters in Tourism Management and Project Management. She is a final-year doctoral student, carrying out research on organizational change via layoffs, and multi-stakeholder perceptions. Her current research examines how corporate reputation buffers the impacts of layoffs on shareholders and jobseekers. She has presented at several conferences and obtained the best student paper award in the organizational theory division at the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada conference in 2022.
