Dr. Aerin Jacob is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), and the Director of Science and Research and the Weston Family Senior Scientist at the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC).
Trained as an ecologist, she has studied animal behaviour, forest, marine, and coastal ecosystems, and 'large landscape' conservation around the world. Her research includes species at risk, ecological connectivity, human dimensions of conservation, and the role of science in law and policy. She is active in science communication and the interface of science with policy and practice, and serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for MakeWay and on the Policy Committee of the Society for Conservation Biology North America.
