I am a carbon cycle biogeochemist who specialises in carbon dynamics at terrestrial-aquatric boundaries. My research has taken me from the poles to the tropics where I have studied lateral carbon fluxes in rivers, dynamics of greenhouse gas evasion from river / wetlands / estuaries, and modelling carbon and water mass mixing in both rivers and oceanic systems. I am also interested in the stocks and fluxes of global pyrogenic carbon and its use as a carbon sequestration mechanism. I graduated with a degree in marine biology from the University of Wales Swansea in 2004, completed a Ph.D in lake carbon-cycle functioning from the University of Glasgow in 2008, before conducting 6 years of post doctoral research at James Cook University and Western Sydney University, Australia.
