Holds a Ph.D. in Planning, Governance, and Globalization from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Author of “Ethnic Mobilization, Violence, and the Politics of Affect: Serb Democratic Party and the Bosnian War,” (Palgrave Macmillan 2017)

Authored or coauthored articles in notable academic journals that examined the mobilizing power of ethno-nationalist discourses in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ongoing research examines the role of emotions and affective sensibilities in popular spatial imaginaries in the Balkans and the Caucuses.

Prof. Maksić lectures B.A. level courses: Political Thought / Philosophy, Ethnicity and Cultural Politics, MA level courses: Conflict Prevention, Debates in International Relations, and Post-Soviet Studies PhD level courses, Advanced Seminar in International Relations and Advanced Seminar in International Relations Theory.
