Dr. Adam Bertscher is a Teaching Fellow in Public and Global Health within the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine. His research explores health-related public policy, with a particular focus on the commercial determinants of health - examining how business practices and political-economic structures shape health outcomes.

Before joining academia, Adam worked in public and health policy research organisations. He also has broad experience in teaching and has delivered undergraduate and postgraduate courses in public health, health policy, international development, and qualitative research methods. He has taught for the University of Cambridge, the University of Bath, and the University of Cape Town, equipping students with the critical skills needed to navigate complex public health challenges.

He holds a PhD in Social and Policy Sciences from the University of Bath, an MPH and BSocSci from the University of Cape Town, and a BA (Hons) from the University of South Africa. His doctoral research focused on the commercial determinants of health, systems thinking, and industry influence on public health policymaking. Adam holds an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).
