Abdalrhaman Koko

(He/Him)

Abdalrhaman Koko is a materials engineer and researcher working on how metals deform, accumulate damage and fail under demanding conditions. His work sits at the intersection of fracture mechanics, micromechanics and advanced materials characterisation, with particular expertise in full-field experimental methods, crystal-scale deformation and structural integrity. He completed his DPhil in Materials at the University of Oxford and has since worked at the National Physical Laboratory and is a visiting academic at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London, where he has contributed to research on short cracks, hydrogen-related materials challenges and measurement-led approaches to engineering reliability.

His research combines fundamental mechanics with practical engineering questions relevant to sectors such as energy, aerospace and advanced manufacturing. Alongside his academic work, he has contributed to standards-related activity in fatigue, fracture and hydrogen testing, and has built collaborations across universities, national laboratories and industry. More broadly, he is interested in how better measurement and modelling can improve the design, qualification and safe use of structural materials.
