Leave a legacy of knowledge shared
Thank you for your interest in leaving a gift in your Will to The Conversation.

Leaving a gift in your Will to The Conversation ensures your commitment to evidence-based news and analysis continues to live on through The Conversation. It isn’t an alternative to caring for your family. It’s part of it — because we want to be able to live and thrive in a healthy democracy, and healthy democracies need access to high-quality, non-partisan, evidence-based information.
Ways to create a lasting impact in your Will
Share a percentage of your estate
You can choose to allocate any percentage of your estate—from 1% to 100%—to support The Conversation’s mission. Even a small portion can have a meaningful and lasting effect.
Leave a residual gift
After taking care of your loved ones, consider leaving a portion of the remaining balance of your estate to The Conversation. Leaving anything from 1% or more of the residual value can drive significant change, and this type of gift is inflation-proof, ensuring its value endures.
Make a specific bequest (also known as a pecuniary bequest)
Designate a particular sum of money, property, or shares to The Conversation. This focused contribution ensures your generosity supports journalism and public knowledge for years to come.

Write your Will online
When you're ready to create your Will, consider using one of our trusted online partners: Safewill or Gathered Here. These platforms make the process simple and convenient, allowing you to draft a standard Will from home. They offer features such as easy-to-use templates, clear guidance at each step, and options to update your Will as your life evolves. For more complex Wills, seeking advice from a solicitor might be the best option. Keep in mind that your Will becomes legally valid only after it has been properly signed and witnessed.
Wording for your Will
A gift to The Conversation may be unrestricted or designated.
An unrestricted gift allows The Conversation to choose how your gift will be applied.
A designated gift enables you to choose how your gift will be applied, for example, to a particular area such as education, environment, arts, science or other.
The most effective gift is one that allows The Conversation the flexibility to use your gift in a way that meets our needs at the time.

Don’t forget
To ensure that your Will fulfils your intentions and that it is legally sound, it is advisable that it be drawn by a solicitor or a Trustee Company. This will ensure the wording used is appropriate for the bequest you wish to make and for your particular situation.
And remember once you have made your Will, it is important to review it every few years or as circumstances change. Remember that the value of your assets will change over time.
